The JMU men's A-side opened fast and held on to beat Temple 34-17 at John Carr Field on Saturday, October 17.
The Dukes raced to a 24-0 lead inside the first 25 minutes. A yellow card gave Temple a window to climb back into the game for a spell, but JMU regrouped and closed out the win.
Tries came from Logan Edler, Connor, and Aiden, with Morgan crossing twice and freshman fly-half Luke Cooney adding a try and two conversions. Morgan was the standout in the backs, dangerous all afternoon with his two-try performance.
The B-side also had a strong day, beating Washington and Lee 39-15. Nick Curillion and Jonah Gonzalez led the way, and Chris Kerr returned to action after recovering from a preseason hand injury.
The result keeps JMU in the mix with Maryland and Delaware for third in the conference. Next up is Maryland on Saturday, October 24, during JMU Rugby Alumni Weekend.
The 52nd Annual Reunion is in Harrisonburg, with the men's alumni game on Saturday's card between the A-side and B-side matches. Registration is open.
