Dukes Take Over Baltimore for the MOB Rally

September 16, 2026

Alumni came into Baltimore from up and down the East Coast on Sept. 11 and 12 for the MOB Rally weekend. Some of us had not seen each other since we last played together, and a few of those gaps ran decades. The weekend was built around South Africa and New Zealand playing their first test on American soil.

Friday was supposed to be Barcocina. Rain moved us across the street to The Horse You Came In On Saloon, same block, indoors. People filtered in all evening.

Saturday started at Liv’s Tavern in Federal Hill, half a mile from M&T Bank Stadium. The tailgate ran through the afternoon and we walked over together for kickoff. South Africa took it 43-28.

Chris Kunkel put this one together. He booked both venues and ran the logistics from Baltimore, and the weekend worked because of it.

MOB Rallies are meant to get a lot of alumni in one place without the commitment of a trip to Harrisonburg. As the Alumni Association grows, we are aiming for at least two a year, and that runs on membership dues.

The next one is in Harrisonburg. The 52nd Annual Alumni Reunion is Oct. 23-25, and an alumni match has been added to the Saturday card between the A-side and B-side men’s matches. Registration is open. The hotel block closes Sept. 23.
