Dr. Mark Fowler

A native of Wales and a JMU graduate (MS, 1990), Mark played over 100 games of Division 1 rugby in Wales before beginning a coaching career that brought him back to Harrisonburg. He served as JMU's head coach from 1988 to 1990 and returned to the sideline in 2021. In between he led the James River Men's Rugby Club as a player-coach from 1994 to 1999 and as a non-player coach from 2017 to 2021, and served as Virginia State Men's U25 Head Coach. He is a member of the Virginia Rugby Hall of Fame.
