JMU Men's Rugby Club made it three in a row on the road, grinding out a 47-15 win at Pittsburgh in Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference play on Saturday.
It was a slow start. Pitt came out physical and controlled territory and possession through the opening exchanges, but the Dukes found the tryline anyway. Morgan Vaughn, JJ Tiago and Aiden Estrada all crossed in the first half, Preston Francois added the conversions, and JMU carried a 21-10 lead into the break.
The second half belonged to the Dukes. JMU matched Pitt's intensity up front and pulled away with four more tries, through Bobby Schroder, Logan Edler, Andrew Ringel and Connor O'Hehir. Morgan Vaughn took over the kicking and slotted three conversions to close it out at 47-15.
Connor O'Hehir took Man of the Match. He stole multiple lineouts, led the pack in physicality and got on the scoresheet, a complete afternoon in the engine room.
The B-side made it a clean sweep, winning 29-10. Michael Swingle and Thomas Dickinson led the way, and freshman Luke Cooney capped a strong day with a try on his debut.
Up next, JMU returns home to host West Chester.
Match video will be posted on the club Watch page.
The 52nd Annual Reunion is in Harrisonburg, with the men's alumni game on Saturday's card between the A-side and B-side matches. Registration is open.
