For over 50 years, Madison Rugby has been built by the people who played it. Now, for the first time, there's a formal way to stay in it. The JMU Rugby Alumni Association is launching its first official membership program, and the founding class sets the tone for everything that follows.
Every membership goes directly toward sustaining the program: funding scholarships, covering team travel, supporting coaching, and building the financial foundation Madison Rugby needs for the next 50 years. The goal is straightforward: a $40,000 annual operating budget from alumni that gives the program a predictable base before each season even begins. Membership turns one-off givers into stakeholders, with annual dues, voting rights, and a clear accounting of where the money goes.
Why Join
Members get a voice, for the first time ever, in electing association officers. Your name goes on the website wall and in the reunion program. And yes, there will be swag: unique to JMU Rugby and worth having. More than any of that, membership is what makes the off-field work possible. A great program is built twice: first on the pitch, then off it.
Membership Tiers
- Young Duke: For recent graduates within five years. $25/yr or $3/month.
- Duke: Standard membership. $100/yr or $10/month.
- Veteran: Mid-level commitment. $250/yr or $25/month.
- Captain: Upper-level membership. $500/yr or $50/month.
- Legend: One-time lifetime membership. $5,000.
- Founders: $1,000 one-time, plus $250/yr starting in 2027.
A Word on Founders
The Founders tier is the centerpiece of this launch, and it's offered the first year only. A one-time $1,000 gift names you a Founder of the 50-year campaign and converts into an ongoing annual commitment starting in 2027. This is aimed especially at alumni who have meant to give for years but haven't yet. Think of it like the season-ticket wall from a team's inaugural year: if you're not in now, you're out. We are actively looking for key alumni to step up as Founders and kickstart this drive. Will that be you?
